Our Staff’s Whole-Hearted Commitment to Fulfilling the Park Senior Villas Mission for All Residents

Happy and satisfied employees lead to happy and satisfied residents. We see this every day in our four communities in Tucson and the Phoenix area.

Like many organizations, Park Senior Villas has a mission statement that serves as a guiding foundation for our team. It helps inspire and direct our staff each day, shaping the way we care for and support our residents. Ultimately, this commitment is reflected in the experience of every resident in our communities, as well as that of their families.

Our Mission Statement

“At Park Senior Villas, we create communities where people feel safe, loved, and at home — the kind of living environment we all hope to have in our senior years. Here, residents have the freedom to explore new interests and relationships, surrounded by kind and caring people who enthusiastically support their physical, mental, and emotional needs.”

This is linked directly to our overarching purpose: “helping seniors thrive to the very best of their abilities while providing their families with support and peace of mind.”

These are more than just words. They express a philosophy our entire staff embraces, from leadership and sales teams to devoted caregivers and the vital staff who keep our communities running smoothly.

Recognizing the Immeasurable Value Our Staff Contributes Day After Day

Our welcoming, home-like environment and unique neighborhood appeal of our communities set Park Senior Villas apart from typical assisted living and memory care communities.

Yet it’s our staff that makes us shine. The dedication and enthusiasm they bring with them each day makes a tremendous difference, not only in the lives of residents, but also in their colleagues’ lives.

To show appreciation for their passion and commitment, we created a social media campaign called “WholeHearted.” Uplifting posts and photos reflected the delight caregivers and other staff shared in their interactions with residents during special occasions and everyday moments.

Caregiver Roles in Assisted Living and Memory Care Communities

For the most part, senior living communities are regulated at the state level, so variations exist as far as the types of clinical and nonclinical professionals you’ll find at different assisted living and memory care communities.

Nursing Staff and Certified Caregivers

Assisted living and memory care communities typically have certified caregivers who provide daily care such as assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming. They may share these responsibilities with, and supervise, other caregivers who undergo comprehensive training but are not certified.

In many states, certified caregivers can also remind residents to take prescribed medications, though they may not be allowed to administer them. Some communities have medication technicians on staff who have additional training and can administer medications under a nurse’s supervision.

At Park Senior Villas, registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) oversee caregiving teams and health services. They manage residents’ care plans, monitor their medical conditions, administer medications, and coordinate care with residents’ outside medical teams.

Additional Caregiving Team Members

Some communities have resident care coordinators who manage residents’ care plans and serve as the primary point of contact for residents’ family members.

In Arizona, assisted living and memory care communities are not required to have a physician on staff, although some contract with a local medical practice to have a physician on call. Other communities, particularly those that provide skilled nursing services, may have a medical director on staff.

Communities offering rehabilitation services may employ their own therapists for occupational, physical, and speech therapy. It’s common, however, for communities to contract with an outside group to provide these services.

Memory Care Requirements

Arizona, like most states, requires specialized training for staff members who provide resident care in memory support communities. This includes training in dementia, communication skills, and behavioral management.

Tech Support Takes on a Different Meaning

Through our partnerships with innovative health technology providers, Park Senior Villas supports our caregivers and residents with artificial intelligence-powered capabilities designed to enhance safety, augment personalized care, and deliver results that have only become possible in the last few years.

Helpany’s Paul

The AI-supported, radar-based device from Helpany called Paul is a prime example of how we’ve been using advanced technology to elevate the quality of care we provide.

These devices identify residents who are at risk for falls by analyzing their unique motion patterns. We’ve installed them in all assisted living and memory care residences at Park Senior Villas. According to a preliminary analysis of 2025 data, we’ve seen a 74% reduction in monthly fall rates in our La Cañada community thanks to Paul.

You can learn more about how Paul helps to protect residents from falls in this blog post.

Taproot’s Ella® and elbi™

Three years ago, our caregivers began using Ella, a HIPAA-compliant, artificial intelligence-powered digital assistant developed by Taproot Interventions & Solutions. Created specifically for professionals who provide care to people with cognitive issues and dementia, Ella ensures caregivers have personalized, evidence-based recommendations at their fingertips when engaging with residents.

Ella’s recommended interventions are personalized with information we get from family members when their loved ones move into our communities. Ella integrates this information with an expansive research database that’s continuously updated. The app’s underlying technology “teaches” Ella over time, allowing it to offer the most effective interventions in a variety of situations.

Through our collaboration with Taproot, we started using a newer version of the app, called elbi, about a year ago. Taproot’s programmers basically adapted the app for use by a broader range of caregivers. Elbi has shown 87% effectiveness in de-escalating challenging reactions for people living with dementia.

Atlas Medical’s In-Motion Program

All residents at Park Senior Villas have access to the In-Motion Program through our partnership with Atlas Medical.

In-Motion team members work with new residents (and their families) to help them ease into their surroundings. A comprehensive screening can identify potential health risks, including the risk of falling. From there, our staff and the In-Motion team collaborate to create the safest possible environment and a personalized care plan for each resident.

Residents seeking to improve or restore their mobility, balance, and range of motion can benefit greatly from the In-Motion Program, as can those who want to regain strength and stability after an injury or illness.

Since Atlas Medical is a member of Aegis, residents have access to additional services available through Aegis, such as hospice care.

This blog post offers an in-depth look at how our staff and the In-Motion team join forces to enhance residents’ quality of life.

Caregiving and Caring

So far in this blog, we’ve focused on our caregivers — team members who provide hands-on care every day. They tend to interact the most with residents and form the deepest bonds.

But the familial environment of our communities provides nearly all of our staff with opportunities to get to know and appreciate the remarkable residents we serve. For instance, activities directors and their teams spend hours with residents every day, engaging in group and one-on-one activities.

Those in managerial and administrative roles also develop a sense of connection — with their coworkers, residents, and the community. We spoke with a few team members in these roles to get their perspective on what it’s like to work at Park Senior Villas.

Brian Cruz-Andino, General Manager, Park Senior Villas – Goodyear

Brian describes his work as “rewarding” because he knows he’s helping residents progress through their journey.

During his 15 years in senior service, Brian has been a caregiver, wellness coordinator, and memory care director before stepping into his current role. He says the breadth of his work history helps him relate to what other team members may be experiencing.

“Nothing beats being hands-on in a prior position to really understand,” he says.

Terry Wilson, Sales Director, Park Senior Villas – La Cañada

Terry says the highlight of each day is seeing residents thrive, watching those who are new to the community enjoy a social lifestyle with some help from the care staff, and noticing the joy families feel, knowing their loved ones are being well cared for.

In the 20-plus years Terry has worked in senior living, she says Park Senior Villas is “the most wonderful community … because everyone truly cares about each other, from residents to staff members.”

Alex Mota, Health Unit Coordinator, Park Senior Villas – Goodyear

Alex notes how much joy there is in working with seniors and says the best part of her day is interacting with residents.

“They have so many stories and personalities, and you really build meaningful connections with them,” she says. “Even small conversations can really make your day.”

When asked what influenced her decision to work at Park Senior Villas, Alex says, “I really like the atmosphere here. It’s welcoming, and you can tell people genuinely care about the residents and each other. Everyone is supportive, and it makes a big difference.”
